“This new music came straight from my soul,” Papa shares, “and I am honored to finally share it with the world. It’s already been such an incredible journey, and I know this is just the beginning!” Listen now: To celebrate the release of “AWAKE,” live shows are planned at former Voice mentor Blake Shelton’s Ole Red Nashville with the full band (Feb. 11, 6:30 p.m. CT) and a special acoustic performance at Ole Red Orlando (Feb. 22, 3:30 p.m. ET). More shows are on the calendar and can be found at TarynPapa.com. Fans can stay tuned for more exciting announcements coming soon. Papa’s bold and sultry voice is both inspired by and infused with the powerful vocal range of Martina McBride and the pop attitude of Kelly Clarkson. As a tenacious 16-year-old, Papa formed a band and started booking her own shows across her home state of Connecticut. With moxie to spare, Papa later pulled up stakes and made the move to Nashville determined to blaze her own trail, without a safety net, without knowing a soul and without a plan B. It’s her relentless drive that kept her going playing night after night in Music City’s honky-tonks, as one of the few females fronting a band on lower Broadway. Papa put in her time honing her stage presence and trying out new material in front of live audiences. Papa spent the bulk of 2021 writing daily and focusing inward. Her debut single, “AWAKE,” puts a new face on the future of pop-country, offering a modern take that feels relatable and simultaneously fresh yet familiar. Next, do people who are tone-deaf hear music differently?
