Paloma’s departure did not just affect the house emotionally, but schedule-wise as well. As the live eviction show, a big never-before-seen elimination was planned, as explained by host Julie Chen Moonves. One of the nominees, either Taylor or Terrance Higgins, would have been voted on by the house. And they would have been facing off against one of the people deemed to be “backstage” on premiere night. That would have been either Paloma or Alyssa Snider, since Brittany Hoopes was granted safety by America. Whichever competitor won would stay; the other would be evicted.Fortunately for all involved, that did not happen. Julie revealed that Paloma’s departure meant both the backstage houseguests and the nominees were safe, and the eviction was canceled. It was a celebration for everyone left, though bittersweet for some as it came at the cost of a tight ally.Paloma and CBS have yet to make any comments about her leaving the game outside of the message read.
