What is Star Trek: Picard about?
Star Trek: Picard follows Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart), a former captain of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise as he embarks on the next chapter in his life. Now in retirement, Picard is enjoying his days at his French chateau harvesting grapes from his vineyard for a local wine he produces. His quiet days are few and far between when he gets pulled into an intergalactic adventure.
Will there be a Picard season 3?
Yes! It was announced on First Contact Day (April 5) that the upcoming season 3 would be the series’ last. “I remember watching the premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation almost 34 years ago with my father like it was yesterday. It was the spark that ignited my love for science fiction,” said Terry Matalas, season three showrunner and executive producer. “So, it’s most fitting that the story of Jean-Luc Picard ends honoring the beginning, with his dearest and most loyal friends from the U.S.S. Enterprise. It would be an understatement to say that giving these characters a proper send-off is an honor. The entire Star Trek: Picard team and I can’t wait for fans to experience this final, high-stakes, starship-bound adventure in season three!” Fun fact: Matalas was a production assistant on Star Trek: Voyager. What happened in season 1 of Picard?
The first season Star Trek: Picard finds Starfleet Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) in his retirement. When a strange young woman (Isa Briones) shows up at his vineyard asking for his help, Picard feels compelled to help her. When he sees her extraordinary skills, he is reminded of his old friend Data (Brent Spiner), a synthetic being who had always yearned for a daughter. Seeking answers to his own questions, Picard is pulled back into space travel as he races to save the young woman’s identical twin sister from Romulan assassins intent on killing her and all of her kind.
What happened in season 2 of Picard?
In season 2 of Star Trek: Picard, an old frenemy returns to taunt Picard. After a surprise attack from the Borg, Q (John de Lancie) sends Picard and his crew to an altered dystopian timeline. To set things back to their current reality, Picard must look to the Borg Queen (Annie Wersching) for help traveling back in time to the moment where things went astray and caused the timeline to shift.
What’s the storyline for season 3 of Star Trek: Picard?

Amanda Plummer (Vadic)
Tony Award winner Amanda Plummer joins the cast as main antagonist for season 3. Vadic is the mysterious alien captain of the Shrike, a warship that has set its sights on Jean-Luc Picard and his old crewmates from his days on the Enterprise. You might recognize her from The Fisher King, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, or Ratched. If you didn’t know: Amanda Plummer is the daughter of actor Christopher Plummer.
Mica Burton (Ensign Alandra LaForge)
Alandra is Geordi’s youngest daughter and works alongside her father.
Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut (Ensign Sidney LaForge)
Sidney is Geordi’s eldest daughter and the ship’s pilot for the U.S.S. Titan (the starship Seven/Annika captains).
Is the cast from seasons 1 and 2 of Star Trek: Picard returning for season 3?

With Federation and non-Federation worlds alike feeling the impact, they must confront the unknown and work together to ensure a hopeful future for all.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds takes place in the pre-James T. Kirk era when Capt. Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise. With his Number One (Rebecca Romijn) and Vulcan Science Officer Spock (Ethan Peck) at his side, Pike and the Enterprise will explore new worlds around the galaxy. UPDATE: Look for a crossover between Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks! The hybrid live-action and animated episode will premiere in season 2 of Strange New Worlds and will be directed by Jonathan Frakes.
Star Trek: Lower Decks
Star Trek: Lower Decks is an animated series geared toward an older audience. It follows the support crew of Starfleet’s least important ship, the California class U.S.S. Cerritos and features the voice talents of Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, and Dawnn Lewis. The third season of Lower Decks premiered on August 25, 2022 and the show has already been renewed for a fourth season.
Star Trek: Prodigy
Star Trek: Prodigy is another animated series, this one geared toward a younger audience. It follows a motley crew of six young aliens who must figure out how to work together after they commandeer a Starfleet vessel they know nothing about. Prodigy features the voice talents of Kate Mulgrew, John Noble and Jimmi Simpson. The series is currently airing its first season.
Section 31
This show is still in development. Michelle Yeoh is attached to the project and will reprise her role as Phillipa Georgiou—the alternate universe version of Georgiou. No official plotlines or other information has been released. Section 31 is mentioned in Star Trek: Discovery and is said to be a clandestine intelligence and defense organization that runs autonomously from the United Federation of Planets.

Alex Kurtzman, who is the fountainhead for the expansion of the Star Trek properties, mentioned another series during the TCA panel for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
