The fireworks will start at approximately 9:25 p.m. ET, but the festivities will kick off beforehand with the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular television broadcast at 8 p.m. ET.

The program will air live on NBC. Those on the go or barbecuing outside can also stream the event live on Peacock at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

The free event can be watched in-person if you’re in New York City. More than 48,000 shells will be launched from five barges stationed between E. 23rd and E. 42nd Streets on the East River. Macy’s recommends entering at E. 42nd Street & FDR Drive, E. 34th Street & FDR Drive, Gantry Plaza State Park, E. 23rd Street & FDR Drive, Transmitter Park, Bushwick Inlet Park and Marsha P. Johnson State Park for prime viewing locations.
Who are the 2022 Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular performers?
This year’s lineup of performers includes 5 Seconds of Summer, Brett Eldredge, Carly Pearce, and Pitbull with Filmore. The evening will also feature a special performance by Lin-Manuel Miranda, James Monroe Iglehart, Kaila Mullady, Dizzy Senze and Anthony Veneziale from the cast of Freestyle Love Supreme, in addition to a performance by cast members from Broadway’s Moulin Rouge! The Musical. The fireworks will be synchronized to a musical score curated by Ray Chew. “This piece is a diverse mosaic of America’s songbook. I am excited & honored that Macy’s & NBC have asked me to curate a musical journey that allows each of us to reflect on our America in our hearts,” Chew said in a statement. This year’s musical score, which will include “The Star-Spangled Banner” performed by The United States Army Soldiers’ Chorus, “Born in the USA,” “Lift Every Voice and Sing” featuring Kenny Lattimore and the Community Baptist Church Choir, and “Reach Out and Touch (Somebody’s Hand)” performed by The Young People’s Chorus of New York City, is set to “showcase the dynamic diversity of America’s musical legacy,” per Macy’s.
