DiCaprio’s portfolio of properties includes an L.A. home he bought in the 1990s from Madonna, a fabulous mid-century modern home in Palm Springs that was built for Dinah Shore he purchased in 2014, and a $23 million Malibu home he snatched up in 2017. The Oscar winner’s most recent purchase, a Los Feliz home that was previously owned by Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson and prior to that by Gwen Stefani, will be a gift for his mother Irmelin Indenbirken. It is a 30-minute drive from his own residence, a two-compound property above the Sunset Strip. According to toptenrealestate.com, the actor paid $7.1 million. The Los Feliz property is impressive. At almost 5,000 square feet, it contains four bedrooms and six baths, formal living and dining rooms with soaring ceilings, and romantic Juliette balconies. Built in 1928 and most recently updated by Ferguson and featured in Architectural Digest, the home improvement team retained and enhanced the home’s period details. There are arched doorways, a tiled roof and floors, stained-glass windows, multiple fireplaces – indoors and outdoors, elegant baths, sweeping staircases, an intricately carved entry door, and inlaid ceilings. Modern touches include a family room that can alternatively be used as a media room with its drop-down screen, and for would-be chefs, the kitchen is state-of-the-art with every appliance to be hoped for. Outdoors for convenience is a detached bathroom by the pool and spa, as well as a detached Zen/meditation/yoga room, and views of the Griffith Observatory, made famous in the film Rebel Without a Cause. DiCaprio, who won his Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for The Revenant, will next be seen in the Netflix film, Don’t Look Up, scheduled to receive a limited theatrical release on December 10, prior to streaming on Netflix on December 24, 2021.
