Who’s leaving Chicago Fire in season 10?

Jesse Spencer

In Chicago Fire’s emotional 200th episode, Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer)  made the decision to move to Portland to serve as legal guardian to Ben and Griffin Darden, whose father Andy—Casey’s best friend—was killed in a fire in the Chicago Fire premiere episode. The boys’ mother Heather is in jail, so unless Casey stepped in, they would be put into foster care and most likely separated.

Adriyan Rae

It actually happened during season 9, but Gianna Mackey (Adriyan Rae) got an offer she couldn’t refuse and transferred to another firehouse where she would be in a better position for a promotion. Mackey was written out when Rae explained to EP/showrunner Derek Haas that she needed to leave Chicago for “personal reasons.”

Jon-Michael Ecker

It isn’t 100 percent certain that we won’t be seeing Lieutenant Greg Grainger (Jon-Michael Ecker) now that he and Sylvie Brett are no longer an item, but would it be too awkward for him to sub in at Firehouse 51 as he did in the past? We think so, but TPTB seem to disagree! “I would not dismiss him out of hand,” Haas told EW. “I could see him having a long life on Chicago Fire, so that’s for us to figure out. As the world keeps turning, we’re always looking for people like Jon, who has such a rabid fanbase. He’s really been awesome. I love watching him work and what he brings. I have a funny feeling if we don’t find a place for him on Chicago Fire soon, he’s going to be the star of some other show. He has a great vibe and so much charisma.”

Will there be any new characters joining Chicago Fire for season 10?

Hanako Greensmith

She isn’t a new character, but paramedic Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) is staying at Firehouse 51 as partner to Sylvie Brett on Ambulance 61 now that Gianna Mackey has moved on. It should be interesting because of Violet’s previous relationship with Blake Gallo, and how she can definitely get under his skin.

Are there any spoilers for Chicago Fire season 10?

It looks as if there may be a wedding with Severide and Kidd tying the knot, with Casey serving as best man. But whether it will be a big to-do, or whether it will even happen this season remains to be seen. Cruz has a baby on the way, and there was a casting call for extras for a baby shower, so that will happen. Kidd passed her lieutenant’s test, but there is no room for another lieutenant at 51. Will she stay at 51 until something opens up somewhere else? Chief Boden has made a few calls on her behalf trying to get her into a good house. Then, Chief Boden may be on the way out the door if he gets promoted to deputy district chief. And finally, now that Violet will be full time at Firehouse 51, she and Blake Gallo need to figure out their relationship.

What happened at the end of Chicago Fire season 9?

Season 9 had quite the cliffhanger ending. When the squad was called in to handle an underwater boat rescue, Severide, Cruz, Capp (Randy Flagler) and Tony (Tony Ferraris) put on their gear and dove down to try to swim the boat owner to safety. But the boat collapsed on them and blocked their escape route, just as their tanks ran out of air, leaving them trapped underwater. It was especially poignant because Cruz is expecting his first child. On the positive side, Brett finally realized her fears about Gaby were keeping her from something she really wanted: Casey. After avoiding him since he came clean with his feelings for her, she told him, “We belong together. We’re right for each other. When you know, you know. I’m in love with you.” Love was definitely in the air in the finale, because with Severide and Kidd getting married, Severide asked Casey to be his best man. Boden was broached with the idea of putting his hat in the ring for a promotion, a position as deputy district chief, and while he isn’t thrilled about being an administrator, he made a decision, but we are going to have to wait until season 10 to hear his answer.
